We're now on the Ogliastra side of the Gennargentu, and after the rocks of Girgini and Genna'e Ragas, the forest of holm and chesnut oaks leaves way to a dry and bare landscape. Thousands of years ago, the nuragic tribe of the village of Orruinas lived here, and the relics left by this ancient civilization are now being restored. We'll admire the scenery of the Flumendosa lake, Montarbu and Perda Liana. A track once used by carbon miners leads down to the bridge over the Flumendosa and then climbs up towards the imposing rock of Perda Liana. We'll leave the tar road to procede easily along the good paths of the territory of Montarbu, through a vast forest inhabited by deer and wild bores. At the end of the day a nice downhill ride along a mule track that leads down to the town. Once we reach Seui, our only thought will be for the famous culurgionis, tipical stuffed pasta of the region, that will pay back the efforts of the day. Look at the map of day 5 of Transardinia |
